In true socialist fashion, you spend 28 minutes talking about the problem and the literature that addresses it. And then in the space of 20 seconds, "I think we need to impose a solution by force in some way. We just need to cram it down, I don't think we have another choice." Great instincts, guys. I see where you're coming from. That just pops out at the end without a second thought, and you know something? I don't think you reasoned your way into that mindset, and I would hope that you can be challenged on it in a way that moves you away from that instinct. If that's not possible, there really is something wrong with you. It means your brain is broken. Don't worry, though. I can fix your brain. I'm pretty sure I'll need to impose it on you, though. In some way. I don't think I have another choice.

The "tsarist nobility" that assassinated Rasputin were led by pro-British imperialists, and the British Secret Intelligence Service. Their objective was to install the British puppet, Grand Duke Kirill. When that failed, the US sought to install their puppet, Kerensky. This imperialist puppetry is often overlooked by scholars. England and America were working behind the scenes to destroy the Romanov immediate family. The Tsar was much more in league with the peasants than is commonly understood. The Tsar exiled Lenin, when he could've had him shot. There is no evidence that Lenin had the royal family murdered.

"people are actually moved by pathos, emotion. We're not rational creatures" Here us where Liberals and republicans actually agree with fascists. This is one of the big points Hitler and Mussolini attack Marxism for, and the means by which they posit the race/nation as being the highest spiritual goal. "People are too stupid to think rationally about their material interest, therefore we must posit a Spiritual mythos over materialism."

What is odd to me is that ultimately this series undermines the very notion that America is some homogenous unity of shared purpose. You paint a picture of conflicting interests and social differences out of which a unity, the national collective, was forced on people by an elite of bourgeois revolutionaries. This means being "American" simply means having a passport issued by the same state, having the same government rule over you. What is called a "common history" is a work of the state, where it retroactively creates a narrative or story about what counts as "American history" that Americans are to take as second nature. In other words, this very notion of a national community of shared interests and purpose is a lie-- and this is true. Nonetheless this lie is put into practice, it exists. If this is the case, then this identification, constantly talking about "us" or "we" is odd. A statement like "we ought to be ashamed! What we did is disgusting!" presupposes an identification with a collective of shared purpose that is already called into question from the start. Shame is the flip-side of pride, and simply an alternative form of nationalism that wants to come to terms with the past as a means purifying the present. Why should I feel that I am responsible for things the sons of liberty or the founding fathers did -- either morally good or bad? Why should I think of things these men did hundreds of years ago as something I share in, as something that is a part of my identity that I share responsibility in? Talking about these facts in America’s long-ago as well as its more recent history, exactly the unity of the people which is ought to be substantiated is already presupposed. National history before the nation-state was formed is a backward projection: Once and only if the ‘we’ is defined, a group of people long or very long dead can be made into a collective. A collective bound by history to the current one. Anyway, for any occurrence, say, more than a hundred years ago there simply cannot be a physical ‘we’, since no one is left who actually took part. But even for anything more up-to-date, most endeavours and decisions are still taken with at least a considerable minority of people opposing the project; yet, they are still citizens. The other way around makes it fit: If the nation already exists with all its citizens, then there is a collective and a history that can be referred to as ‘ours’. If this history is given as a (or even the) reason for the nation, then that turns the real relation of nation and history upside down: without the nation there would simply be none of its history the history is the result of its formation. Again it is the state which fosters this quid pro quo by educating its junior and senior subjects about ‘their’ history in history classes, museums and on public TV channels.

🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 01:55 *📚 Weber's Definition of the State* - Weber defines the state as a human community claiming the monopoly of legitimate physical force. - The state is not defined by governing people but by its monopoly on violence. - Weber focuses on means rather than ends in describing the state. 07:10 *💡 Weber's Definition of Power* - Power is the probability of one actor carrying out their will despite resistance. - Money alone does not equal power in Weber's view; power involves the possibility of using violence. - Legitimacy and authority play significant roles in the concept of power according to Weber. 10:07 *🏹 Weber's Definition of Domination* - Weber's concept of domination is the probability that a command will be obeyed by a group of people. - Discipline and obedience play essential roles in the concept of domination. - Domination can exist implicitly through societal commands and normative structures. 21:25 *💼 Traditional Authority explained by Max Weber* - Traditional authority legitimacy from age-old rules and powers - Masters designated by traditional rules and obeyed due to their status 21:51 *💫 Charismatic Authority according to Max Weber* - Charismatic authority based on individual's exceptional sanctity, heroism, or exemplary character - Leaders obeyed due to personal trust in their charisma or qualities 22:34 *🎙️ Examples of Charismatic Authority in Populist Leaders* - Populist leaders like Andrew Jackson used charisma and heroism to gain power - Charismatic power can lead followers to overlook moral and ethical standards - Charismatic and legal authority can be combined in leaders like Emperor Justinian Made with HARPA AI

Please let's stop the revisionist history. West Africans were Iron Age peoples. They had domesticated animals. The empires were predominantly Muslim and they had immunity to Old World diseases. Had Africans arrived in the Caribbean first the Natives would have had time to develop immunity, they would have had metal working skills, domesticated animals like cows goats and sheep and they'd have been Muslims.

What if we just call it freedom and because everyone wants to be free so bad they actually do it right and they don't rippoff the people anymore with information and endless wars and overpriced gasoline? What if we just call it common sense and everyone wins. Your using all those scarring names it's no wonder that we've not been able to do anything. Fascism is that we have today but nobody will touch that because it's a hot topic.

game design is performative regulation whereby subjects create each other. Think kids arguing the rules before playing. Or Ostrom's local standards being the negotiation between selfishness and ideals. Think ideology meets the market in reality... Most game theory is market design praxis. Stop thinking of the private competitor and public ideal. Its the real life balance. Complete with stupid Nash equilibria, real politik, and anarchist (TM) power washing etc. Natural law is an example of market evolution. Instead of waiting for evolution we can experiment with models to find whats cheaply sustainable. We experience that as interactionism through out mirror neurons. Anarchist have ideals, what norms are cheaply enforcable? Giving everyone policing training like in Rojava? Time for anarchists to become scientists instead of idealogues

1:03:45 No need to keep it because a very similar verse to that exists in the Gospels they chose to keep: 34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. 35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's enemies shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me. - Faith is not reality. Scientism is the faith in scientific truths and facts and establishments but that goes against the scientific method. The scientific method uses evidence to disprove theories and empiricism is the accumulation of what is left. Math has proofs because its abstract, science does not... So too anarchism is the faith in anarchist principles, unity and traditional organisations which complain about critical trial by practice. Anarchy is development of autonomous choice and co-operation to enhance that and the practice of solidarity against unifying tendencies (not anomie as the media tells us). Free co-operation in defence, not unified focused drive. The road to the revolution is lined with jeering peers - thats why it works, just like science... - That said let me explain power washing with anarchism. For that holier than thou deep cleansing... - * Can't wait for the revolution? Don't compromise working class solidarity for lifestyle drop outs... - * Invited lumpen to your prole rally but can't remove the stains on your image? Squatters, deadbeats, drug promoters and teen prostitutes begone... "because there are some things you have to do even if you are an enlightened liberal cop who knows all about sensitivity and everything.".. - * Questioned by trouble makers? Gagging on tolerance? Deplatform inclusive nonconformists without compromise. Influencers - keep your "public forums" privately owned and unaccountable so you can shadow ban those questioning your legitimacy in front of your followers and patrons... - * Disunity threatening your mass mobilisation? Shadow ban traitors with your Alternative (TM) brand... - * Nonviolent members killing the propaganda of the deed? Denounce those whistle blowers and all their friends... - * Petite bourgeoisie trading with the enemy? Lumpens proles refusing class war conscription? Post left nonbinaries sowing class confusion? Demand croney friendship and secretly outlaw misfits with ostracising gossip at every scale, then laugh with your vigilante privateers as you achieve unity... - Brought to you by anarchy without nouns.

I also love your beef with superhero films. I myself am highly interested in the concept of the hero and how that differs across time and space. I heard once (but forget the source) that the archetypical super hero of the west is that who conquers others whereas in the east it is the person who conquers themselves. I’ve looked for academic writings on this but could not find any so I wonder if you two have any insight??

How did you get through this entire episode and not talk about the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series??? There are so many levels - Buffy is super human but is generally ostracized, everyone prefers her vampire boyfriends over her human ones (who are evil but then each get a soul through magic and technology), Willow is a normal person who makes herself superhuman by learning witchcraft but eventually turns evil, Xander is just a dude along for the ride but marries a vengeance demon who is learning how to be a human after her powers were taken away, there are lovable demons like the one who turns the world into a musical and people dance until they go up in flames, and eventually the whole town is swallowed by the hellmouth. That’s just the highlight reel!

as a linguist (and actually biolinguist) I would say that language started between 200000 and 150000 years ago due to evidence in art, decoration, jewels, all of these requiring abstract thinking, and because without language we cannot have abstract thinking. And yes, death conceptualization is abstract, animals don't prepare funerals, they might understand that someone is gone at the moment of dying, but not in an abstract way, that is, extrapolate this to a general level (I can die, anyone can die, etc., when, where, how...)
